Could bacteria travel from earth to other planets via space exploration vehicles like the mars rovers?

I was thinking that perhaps if some bacteria attached itself to some part of a rover/lander it could possibly escape onto the planet and survive. Then of course, evolve to higher lifeforms long term down the road. Perhaps they disinfect the rovers/landers before leaving earth, what do you think?
