Has anyone ever had this happen?

I got a loan for about $5000 and another for $3000 and then some now the dept of education is asking for out tax returns to "verify" what is on my fafsa after i was already awarded the financial aid with payments of $50 a month.Has this ever happened to anyone else? I mean everything on there is true so im not worried jsut wondering if this is like a standard procedure.My husband thinks it cuz they think we lied since he was out of work for 7 months with a torn acl that required surgery and he is a CO and he makes a lot of money but he only made like $28,000 total last year and then got aflac.So has this happened to anyone?
