How can you exchange your chocolate lg phone without renewing your contract?

hello, i have a LG verizon chocolate (white) phone with me. And, to tell you the truth, it sucks! It is so horrible, half of the touch sensory ons don't even work. So, my question is how do I exchange it, or get it repaired by anyone for free, if possible? And, i cannot upgrade it, cuz that cost a lot. So, any tips? or websites I can go to? Remember, please I need legit answers.
